How to: Download any Flash Videos from any Website [Firefox]

When we switch to a high speed internet connection, we become more addicted to videos. I was using a dial up connection internet for 5 years. After switching to a faster broadband connection, I loved to watch videos on YouTube. That was much fun. When I used dial up connection, I should wait for minutes to watch a 30 seconds video. But I wondered how directly, I can download the flash video so that I can watch anytime without any internet usage. Internet Download Manager gave me certain options to do that but I hated to download a separate software for this activity.

Most of the  videos that are available on the internet is certainly powered by Flash. Most of the website play videos on their own video player embedded on their site. The source of the video is hidden. Even, when you digg the source of a page, the direct video URL can’t be seen. Some sites may put it visible in the source but you have to do some changes in the video link. That is you have to replace some codes with the symbols.

For Example,

  • %3A should be replaced with :
  • %2f should be replaced with /

So, to make the download work easier and faster, we may use a Firefox add on.

Flash Video Downloader – YouTube Downloader:
This add on lets you to download any flash based video from the internet. Mostly, people download videos from YouTube, Metacafe, Facebook or any other sites which embeds a flash video in their website. It is not necessary that you have to buffer the whole video and download. Just go to their page which contain that video and click on the download icon which is displayed near the address bar of the browser. It gives options to download all type of quality if available. If you try to download a YouTube video, then it becomes more simple than ever. You no need to to go for any external website to download the video. Just click on the download button which will be available under the YouTube video. The download button, when you click, it lets you select the option for quality of the video to be downloaded.

Sites which allow you to download YouTube videos are easier but not easier than this. You may download the video without navigating into any other external websites.

When you don’t see any flash video in the webpage, then the download icon near the address bar becomes disabled.

Hannn! The trick seems to be quite old.. Installing Real Player makes this even more easier. And it can be used to download in any of the site which has a video hosted by Youtube and a fewer like that.

Real Player weighs more in size than this simple browser add on. You may download this add on in seconds than you used to wait for downloading a Real Player. :)

I heard few days ago about torch browser and in my opinion it’s even more simple… It’s very fast, looks like chrome and has a Video grabber feature in it… The easiest way to download videos i have found so far.
